Infiniti recently released the Essence concept car at the Geneva Motor Show, which could a look into the future of the luxury brand. The Infiniti Essence was unique not only for its stunning, sleek design, but also for its powerful hybrid powertrain. With hybrid technology catching on, the Essence was certainly an indication that Infiniti plans to make an aggressive push into the burgeoning luxury hybrid segment.

It was only the heels of the Essence introduction that Infiniti indicated it plans to add hybrid powertrains to all models within its lineup over the next couple of years. The first model to receive Nissan’s propriety hybrid powertrain will likely be the M sedan suggests Framingham Infiniti M dealers, which will make its way to showrooms in 2010. The same system is currently used in the Nissan Altima sedan.

With its use in other Nissan vehicles, the Infiniti M hybrid will have plenty of typical features, including regenerative braking and a start/stop system, but what will set this vehicle apart according to Infiniti Service Boston will be the electric motor that will feature a two clutch system. This system enables both engines to send power to the rear wheels at the same time for improved response and acceleration.

Technology continues to play a substantial role in the premium segment, and the upcoming Infiniti hybrid is the perfect example of that trend. With features such as leather seating and GPS now mainstream, luxury car buyers such as those visiting Maserati Dealership Los Angeles specialists are now demanding advanced hybrid technologies. Already Lexus has a range of premium hybrid vehicles and the pending models from Infiniti will certainly fuel even greater competition within this tough segment.
