The Infiniti QX56 may be a relatively low volume vehicle, but for Nissan’s luxury brand, the QX remains crucial to maintaining a presence in the competitive full-size luxury SUV segment. That’s why the all-new 2011 Infiniti QX was just redesigned from the ground up, and is intended to provide a “five-star travel experience” for the road.
As before, the 2011 Infiniti QX56 is simply gargantuan and certainly exudes power and strength. But the all-new model also provides a subtle softness in its styling that gives way to spaciousness and luxury inside. The QX56 retains all the important aspects of a vehicle in the full-size luxury SUV class, Infiniti Boston says.
“The new QX gives us an incredible presence in full-size performance luxury SUVs – perfect for buyers seeking style, comfort, roominess and driving exhilaration.” says Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit.
Naturally the interior of the new QX is impressive. The range of features and gizmos is simply staggering. Available amenities include standard Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, Around View™ Monitor, Bose® 2-channel, 13-speaker Premium Audio System, available perforated semi-aniline leather seating, and available DVD entertainment system with dual 7-inch color monitors which allows different sources to be played at the same time. In addition to such a bevy of convenience features, the interior of the QX also offers ample seating and generous storage capacity.
Powering the 2011 QX is a 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine with Infiniti’s VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) and direction injection. This unit is mated to a new seven speed automatic transmission that helps this behemoth not only deliver 25% more horsepower, out also 10% better fuel economy over the current 2010 QX. Towing is rated at 8,500 lbs. and buyers will be able to choose between 2WD and 4WD models. While the high towing capacity is nice, not everyone needs it, Honda Connecticut notes.
Large SUVs, such as the QX, often deliver somewhat uncomfortable ride quality – largely because of the truck platforms they’re based on. But the 2011 Infiniti QX will be different, thanks to a new Hydraulic Body Motion Control system. This advanced system will help minimize body lean while turning for a more comfortable ride. It’s also available as a part of the Deluxe Touring Package, which includes 22-inch wheels.
Other advanced systems of the 2011 QX include Infiniti’s Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention systems, a new Blind Spot Warning system, Infiniti’s advanced Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Distance Control Assist (DCA), Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts. Simply put, this Ute is loaded with everything you may need to keep the entire family safe and secure. Infiniti has improved the QX by offering high-tech safety options, Maryland Mazda concedes.
Although the new generation QX delivers vast improvements over the current model in terms of luxury, technology, performance, and fuel economy, pricing for the 2011 model will remain the same as the 2010 model. Base price for the QX56 2WD is set at $56,700 and $59,800 USD for the QX56 4WD.
