Although Infiniti and Nissan were both absent on the floor of the LA Auto Show, that’s not to say they were completely absent from Los Angeles during the show. Just prior to the show, Infiniti hosted a special event to debut its all-new 2011 M sedan and updated 2010 G sedan.
The Infiniti M was previously teased “virtually” earlier this year in Pebble Beach, but the car itself was not present. The base M37 sedan will receive a 3.7-liter V6 which produces 330 horsepower and 270 lb. ft. of torque. If more power is needed, the M56 delivers 420 horsepower and 417 lb. ft. of torque thanks to its 5.6-liter direct injection engine. Although power is up this year, fuel economy has improved according to Infiniti.
Exterior lines of the new 2011 Infiniti M are clearly inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car from earlier this year. The interior features a similar design to the previous M, which is a very good decision, but the interior materials are vastly improved and more technology, such as an advanced climate control system, has been added.
In addition to looking sleeker and becoming more upscale in terms of fit and finish, the all-new M will also receive a hybrid model in early 2011. In addition, the new M will feature a unique system that will actually assist in steering the vehicle away from another vehicle if it detects it veering into the M’s lane. It may be some time before car buyers will be able to find the new M preowned, Infinity Boston said.
While BMW enthusiasts doubt that the M will overtake the popularity of the 5 Series, one thing is unquestionable – the 2011 M is looking better than ever.
